Updated 2/1/2021

Dear Parents,

The Camp Gan Israel 2021 season is open for business!

Camp will run from June 28 to July 30, giving us all 5 weeks of nonstop fun and excitement.

As always, safety is our number one priority, so once again, we will closely be following the guidelines of the CDC, LA County and the State of California with everything that we plan.

We are ready to build upon our experience from our incredibly successful previous summer to bring you a wonderful, COVID-friendly CGI that will be even better than before. That being said, we are incredibly hopeful that by the time summer rolls around, things will be different and we will be able to go back to our much-beloved full camp experience. However things work out, we look forward to spending another fabulous summer with you!

Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, we are allowing families to make any changes or cancellations, free of charge, through Thursday, April 15th.

Summer Program:

We ran a successful summer program last year that was redesigned to maximize the safety of our campers and families. The signature Gan Izzy excitement, fun, Jewish pride and enthusiastic staff remained the same and we have plans for even bigger and better this year!

As of the current situation, there will be no offsite trips aside for beach and hiking. We hope to be able to include swimming and some trips in our program this summer based on how things progress. We will continue to update this page based off of the guidelines as we get closer to camp.

Additional Health & Safety Updates & Guidelines:

Below are some additional guidelines that we will be following this summer at Camp Gan Israel, please note that this list is not comprehensive and is subject to change as we get closer to camp. Please feel free to reach out to us with any specific questions or concerns with our plan.

  • Camp will be limited in size. Bunks sizes will total with up to 12 campers and 2 counselors per bunk. Each bunk will run as an independent cohort, there will be no moving between bunks.
  • When possible, siblings of similar age will be placed together.
  • Campers will be reminded to stay extra careful with handwashing, using sanitizer and other important hygienic guidelines at all times. All campers and counselors will wash their hands between all activities and before and after eating.
  • All of our staff will be wearing face coverings at all times, except for while eating and while in water. LA County guidelines require campers to wear masks too. Please send your child to camp with a cloth face covering.
  • Campers will be outdoors as much as possible with limited time spent indoors. All indoor areas will be well ventilated at all times.
  • All campers should apply sunscreen at home. When reapplying sunscreen in camp, campers will do so unassisted; if they do need extra guidance, please send in spray sunscreen so they can be assisted by a staff member wearing a mask and gloves.
  • Camp Gan Israel will have a dedicated cleaner sanitizing our campus throughout the day.
  • Any camper or staff member who has experienced fever, vomiting, cough, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell or other symptoms typical of Covid-19 will be unable to rejoin the program until 72 hours after the symptoms subside, in most cases a negative test result and/or doctor’s note will be required before returning.
  • Any camper or staff member who displays a high temperature (>101) or other symptoms during the camp day will be isolated from the rest of camp and sent home ASAP.

Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures:

Parents are required to check their children’s temperature before arriving at camp each morning and to keep their children at home if they or any household member have a fever or other symptoms. Additionally, all campers’ temperature will be checked with a contactless thermal thermometer before being signed in each morning. Any camper with a fever of 100.4 will be sent home. To minimize the congregating, parents are asked to remain in their vehicles during morning check-in.

All campers will be required to sanitize their hands upon entering the CGI campus.

Daily drop-off and pick up will be at the campus gate on Los Liones.

Payment Policy:

Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, we are allowing families to hold a spot with a registration fee.

Families will be allowed to make any changes or cancellation, free of charge, through April 15th. We will not be processing any tuition payments before that time.

All non-refundable payments must be made in full at the beginning of the camp season.

COVID-19 Related Refund Policy:

Any camp (or bunk) COVID-19 related closure or confirmed COVID-19 related absence, that exceeds 2 consecutive days will be refunded 50%.
